Government subsidies promoting the purchase of electric cars in Germany are causing demand to skyrocket. VW, BMW and Daimler are all overwhelmed by the sudden boom. Not only are there too few vehicles coming off the assembly lines, but there aren't enough charging stations around Europe. The companies are now going on the offensive to catch up with Tesla.
